Akira  Toriyama

Akira Toriyama broke into the manga scene in 1980 with the enormously famous Doctor Slump, and has since become known for his lively, inventive storytelling and humorous, distinctive graphic style. In the United States, his bestselling series Dragon Ball (published by Viz Media) has become a worldwide phenomenon. Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine published Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z from 1984 to 1995. He's also recognized for designing video games like Dragon Quest, Chrono Trigger, and Tobal No. Blue Dragon, and most recently, No. 1.

COWA! is one of his most recent manga masterpieces. In Japan, he lives with his family.
