Captains Courageous, Kim, and Treasure Island were among ALAN ARMSTRONG's favorite books. He's worked as a lawyer, a traveling bookseller, and a writer of tales about kids who are put to the test as an adult. Moon Girl is his fourth children's novel. Whittington, his first novel, received a Newberry Honor in 2006. He and his painter wife, Martha, live in Massachusetts.
