The Stars My Destination and the Hugo Award-winning The Demolished Man, two passionate books of worldwide adventure, brilliant intellect, and terrific vigor, established Alfred Bester as a science fiction grandmaster, a reputation that was reaffirmed by the Science Fiction Writers of America just before his death in 1987. Bester was also a well-known journalist for Holiday magazine, a critic for the Journal of Fantasy and Science Fiction, and a Superman writer.
