Alicia Cook

Alicia Cook is the curly-haired author of Things I've Been Feeling Recently, a successful poetry collection published in 2016, I Hope My Voice Doesn't Skip in 2018, and Sorry I Haven't Texted You Back in 2020. Cook has devoted much of her life to raising awareness about how drug addiction affects families' mental health. Her advocacy to combat the opioid epidemic is far-reaching, and she has her own episode on the Emmy-nominated PBS series Here's the Story, as well as a international readership. She received NJTV's Everyday Hero award in 2017 and the Women with Voices Foundation's Women with Voices award in 2018. NJBiz named her a finalist for the 2019 Healthcare Hero Award.

Three MarCom awards and one Communicator award were given to her for her magazine writing in higher education. American Songwriter Magazine (4x honorable mention), Music City Song Star (semi-finalist), and the American Songwriting Awards (winner) have all praised her songwriting.
