Andrew S Tanenbaum

Tanenbaum holds a bachelor's degree in science. M.I.T. (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) degree as well as a Ph.D. University of California, Berkeley, B.A., M.A., M.S., M. He is currently a Professor of Computer Science at Amsterdam's Vrije Universiteit, where he directs the Computer Systems Group.

He's also the Dean of the Advanced School for Computing and Imaging, an interuniversity graduate program dedicated to advanced parallel, distributed, and image systems research. Yet, he is making every effort to avoid becoming a bureaucrat. He's worked on compilers, operating systems, networking, and local-area distributed systems in the past. His current research is on the design of large-scale distributed networks with billions of users.
