B.ICHI, Atsushi Ohkubo's first manga series, debuted in Square Enix's MONTHLY SHONEN GANGAN magazine. Following the completion of the series, he developed the idea for SOUL EATER, which began as a series of shorts in the same magazine and evolved into the long-running work that has garnered him international acclaim. He started working on a prequel series called SOUL EATER NOT! in 2011.
