Barry  Wittenstein

Waiting for Pumpsie and The Boo-Boos That Shook the World: A True Tale About an Accidental Invention (Really) are two of Barry Wittenstein's picture books. He lives in New York City and is earning a master's degree in childhood education at Hunter College. The Caldecott Medal, five Coretta Scott King Awards, five Coretta Scott King Honor Awards, four New York Times Best Illustrated Books, and four gold medals from the Society of Illustrators are among the many honors bestowed upon legendary author and illustrator Jerry Pinkney. He has taught at Pratt Institute, the University of Delaware, and the University of Buffalo, and served on the National Council of the Arts. He is also a Trustee Emeritus of the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art. He currently resides in Westchester County, New York.
