Before 2005, Bill Browder, the founder and CEO of Hermitage Capital Management, was Russia's largest foreign investor. Browder has been leading a campaign to expose Russia's pervasive corruption and human rights abuses since his lawyer, Sergei Magnitsky, was murdered in prison in 2009 after uncovering a $230 million scam committed by Russian government officials. Browder was a vice president at Salomon Brothers before launching Hermitage. He graduated from the University of Chicago with a degree in economics and Stanford Management School with an MBA.
