Brian Pinkney is a well-known illustrator who has won multiple awards for his work. He has received two Caldecott Medal Honors, four Coretta Scott King Illustrator Award Honors, and the Boston Globe/Horn Book Award, in addition to the Coretta Scott King Illustrator Award for At the Time of the Drums. Pinkney, his wife and longtime partner Andrea Davis Pinkney, and their two children live in Brooklyn, New York.
