Charles  Johnson

Professor emeritus at the University of Washington in Seattle, Charles Johnson is a novelist, essayist, literary historian, philosopher, cartoonist, and screenwriter. Night Hawks, Dr. King's Refrigerator, Dreamer, Faith and the Good Thing, and Middle Passage, for which he won the National Book Award, are among his works of fiction. The American Academy of Arts and Letters awarded him the Arts and Letters Prize in Literature in 2002. He is based in Seattle.
