Chris Tomlinson was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, and began his career as a reporter in 1994. He reported from fifty nations and nine combat zones, including Rwanda, Somalia, Lebanon, Afghanistan, and Iraq, during the end of apartheid in South Africa. Chris has won the Military Reporters and Editors Association Award for excellent reporting and the New York Association of Black Journalists Award for foreign reporting. He has been nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. He and his wife live in Austin, Texas.
