She went on to get her M.A. after that. Claire Kehrwald Cook began her career in publishing after teaching English Composition at a midwestern institution for three years. She spent the next eight years reworking problem manuscripts in the commercial, business, and college divisions for a big publishing house. She has worked at the Modern Language Association since 1976, where she enjoys decorating literary articles deemed worthy of meticulous editing.
