Proof, a play written by David Auburn in 2000, received the Tony Award for Best Play and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and was made into a film. The Helen Merrill Playwriting Prize and a Guggenheim Fellowship have both been bestowed upon him. He is a Manhattan resident.
