David Finch, a historical consultant based in Calgary, was born in Cuba. He is the author of several books on the oil sector, including Hell's Half Acre, and a regular writer to The Calgary Herald, Alberta Oil: The Magazine, and Alberta Perspectives, with over twenty years of consultancy experience. The Petroleum History Society of Calgary presented David with the Lifetime Achievement Award for Devoted Inquiry and Professional Research in the Study of Canadian Petroleum History.
