David Noonan read the first of more than a hundred letters written by his grandfather from the Western Front more than a decade ago. That became the catalyst for a voyage through France and Belgium, following his grandfather's route. His curiosity led to a doctorate in the Department of History and Philosophical Studies at the University of Melbourne, as well as a course in statistical sampling methodology at the Statistical Consultancy Centre in the Department of Mathematics. Those We Forget is the result of his investigation into the truth about what happened to the troops of the AIF during WWI.
