David S Goodsell

David Goodsell is a Scripps Research Institute Associate Professor of Molecular Biology who splits his time between research and science outreach. Methods for predicting and characterizing biomolecular complexes, as well as their application to drug discovery and design, are the focus of his study. His work in molecular graphics and computation informs his science outreach efforts. He now writes a monthly post for the RCSB Protein Data Bank that explains molecular structure and function to laypeople. He's also the author of three popular books, including The Machinery of Life and Our Molecular Nature. He has also worked on instructional and outreach materials with science institutions, filmmakers, and well-known authors.
