David Watson

DEREK WATSON is an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham's Centre for Russian and East European Studies. He earned a PhD in history from Sheffield University, where he studied history. He retired in 1991 after thirty years of teaching and senior administrative posts in higher education to focus on research and writing. Molotov and Soviet Government: Sovnarkom 1930-41 is his first book, and he has written a number of papers on Soviet history, especially foreign policy.
