Diane Poole Heller, PhD, is a well-known expert in the fields of Adult Attachment Theory, Somatic Experiencing(R) trauma resolution, and a synthesis of integrative healing techniques. She is a trainer and presenter who specializes in trauma, attachment models, and their dynamics in childhood and adult relationships, among other subjects. Dr. Heller has talked and taught around the world as a Somatic Experiencing trainer and special topic presenter for several decades, most recently with her popular DARe (Dynamic Attachment Re-Patterning Experience) series on Adult Attachment. Dr. Peter Levine, the creator of the Foundation for Human Enrichment, now the Somatic Experiencing Trauma Center, and the Somatic Experiencing technique of trauma treatment, was her first mentor. She teaches work based on Dr. Levine's approach in the US and around the world, including Denmark, Italy, Norway, Switzerland, Israel, Germany, and Australia, as a senior faculty member for the Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute.
With a holistic approach to trauma treatment, she integrates her 30 years of expertise in the Diamond Approach spiritual practice with ideas from the domains of body, mind, and spiritual sciences. Her book Crash Course, a how-to guide for resolving vehicle accident trauma, is used as a resource for healing various types of trauma in the United States and around the world. Dr. Heller has given talks at national conferences and is the author of numerous articles in the topic, as well as the CNN documentary Surviving Columbine. She focuses her efforts as president of DARe and Trauma Solutions, a psychotherapy training organization, on supporting the helping community through a variety of specialist psychotherapy themes.
