Edward Bowen

Edward L. Bowen is the author of twenty-one books about the history of Thoroughbred racing. He spent thirty years on the staff of the weekly trade journal The Blood Horse, including seventeen years as managing editor and five years as editor-in-chief. For two years, he was also the editor of The Canadian Horse. From 1994 to 2018, Bowen was the president of the Grayson-Jockey Club Research Fund. Bowen has won numerous awards in the worlds of Thoroughbred and sports journalism and authorship, including an Eclipse Award for magazine writing, the Kentucky Thoroughbred Association's Charles Engelhard Award, Pimlico Race Course's Old Hilltop Award, the National Turf Writers Association's Walter Haight Award, and the gold medal distinction in Foreword's sports category. He lives in Versailles, Kentucky.
