Edward Ford is an artisan. He was the kid who dismantled his parents' television to see how it worked, as well as the toaster, refrigerator, and whatever else he could get a screwdriver into. He is a strong supporter of open hardware and open source software, and believes that empowering people to create their own high-quality goods would make the world a better place. Everyone should be their own manufacturer, according to Edward. Edward created Project Shapeoko, an open hardware desktop CNC machine, in 2011 and released it in 2012.
The project is currently at its second iteration, and it can be found in thousands of Makers' shops throughout the world. Outside of work, Edward may be found spending time (or playing!) with his two young girls or crossing stuff off his wife's never-ending honey-do list.
