Since 2010, Elif Batuman has been a staff writer at The New Yorker. The Possessed: Travels with Russian Literature and the People Who Read Them, as well as The Idiot, are her works. She holds a degree in comparative literature from Stanford University and has received a Whiting Writers' Award, a Rona Jaffe Foundation Writers' Award, and a Paris Review Terry Southern Prize for Humor.
