Dame Francis Yates (1899-1981) was a Reader in Renaissance History at the University of London's Warburg Institute. She was named a Dame of the British Empire in 1977 for her services to Renaissance studies, and she was the leading Renaissance scholar of her day. The Art of Remembering and The Rosicrucian Enlightenment are two of her other books.
