GEORGES ST-PIERRE, a native of Montreal's South Shore, is the UFC's current welterweight champion. He engages in a variety of combat sports, including wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and karate. At the age of 16, he won his first amateur fight. He won the UFC Welterweight Championship in 2006; he lost it in 2007 but reclaimed it in front of his native people in 2008. Since then, he hasn't lost a single title defense. He is currently widely regarded as one of the top pound-for-pound MMA fighters and all-around athletes in the world, as well as a three-time Canadian Athlete of the Year.
