Gerda Muller was born in Naarden, Netherlands, in 1926. She studied at the Amsterdam Academy of Fine Arts and afterwards at the École Estienne in Paris. She illustrated approximately 120 children's books and collaborated with a variety of publishers. Her books have been translated into a number of other languages. Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter, as well as Where Do They Go When It Rains?, are among her four board books for younger children.
