Gil Gilpatrick has been a Master Maine Guide for almost 40 years and has spent nearly 30 years teaching Outdoor Resources at the Skowhegan Vocational Center in Maine. He has written extensively on his outdoor adventures and his understanding of how to construct outdoor equipment. Building Snowshoes and Snowshoe Furniture, The Outdoor Leader's Handbook, Building Outdoor Gear, Building a Strip Canoe, Allagash, and The Allagash Guide are just a few of his books. He belongs to the New England Outdoor Writers Association. is a regular contributor to the Northwoods Sports Journal.
