Gordon W Allport
Allport was born in Montezuma, Indiana, in 1897. He earned his AB, AM, and PhD in psychology from Harvard University, then went on to do postgraduate studies in Europe before returning to Harvard in 1930 as a professor of psychology until his death in 1967. Allport was president of both the American and Eastern Psychological Associations, the director of the National Opinion Research Center, and the editor of the Journal of Abnormal and Social Psychology throughout his lifetime. The Psychology of Rumor, The Individual and His Faith, Personality, and Becoming were among his other works.
