Hannah Arendt

Hannah Arendt was born in Hanover, Germany, in 1906, moved to Paris in 1933, and then to America after World War II broke out. From 1946 until 1948, she was the editorial director of Schocken Books. She was a professor at Berkeley, Princeton, the University of Chicago, and The New School for Social Research, among other places. In 1975, Arendt passed away.
