Helaine Olen is a freelance journalist whose work has appeared in publications such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, Slate, Salon, Forbes, and BusinessWeek. She co-wrote and edited the Los Angeles Times' popular Money Makeover series. Her family and she live in New York City.
