Hiromi Shinya

Dr. Hiromi Shinya is a well-known gastroenterologist who is credited with inventing the colonoscopy. He is a retired Chief of Surgical Endoscopy at Beth Israel Medical Center and an Albert Einstein College of Medicine Retired Professor of Surgery. Dr. Shinya worked in both Tokyo and New York for more than 45 years. He gathered information on diet and health, particularly gut health, from over 300,000 people.
