In 1997, Hiroyuki Takei made his debut in Weekly Shonen Jump with the creation of Butsu Zone. After inventing Shaman King in 1998, he became one of Japan's most popular designers and artists. This title has sold over 16 million copies worldwide since the release of all 19 volumes of the graphic novel. It was made into an anime in 2001 and became a huge hit. Takei received the Hop Step Award as well as the Tezuka Award.
