Holling Clancy Holling was born in 1900 in Jackson County, Michigan, and graduated from the Art Institute of Chicago in 1923. After that, he worked in the taxidermy department of Chicago's Field Museum of Natural History and in anthropology under Dr. Ralph Linton. Around this time, he married Lucille Webster and accepted a post as an art lecturer on the first University World Cruise, sponsored by New York University, within a year of their marriage. Holling C. has been in the business for a long time. Holling devoted a lot of his time and energy to writing children's books. He had firsthand knowledge of much of the material he used, and his wife, Lucille, assisted him on several of the illustrations.
