Ilya Kaminsky was born in 1977 in Odessa, Ukraine, in the former Soviet Union. DANCING IN ODESSA (Tupelo Publishing, 2004) was his first collection. The Whiting Prize, the American Academy of Arts and Letters' Metcalf Award, and the 2005 Foreword Poetry Book of the Year award are among his honors.
