Jack Kent

Jack Kent

Jack Kent (1920-1985) was born in Burlington, Iowa, but lived in San Antonio for the majority of his life. His earliest cartoons were in San Antonio newspapers, and he worked on Big Chief Wahoo for a short time before starting King Aroo in 1950. Jack Kent went on to become one of America's most beloved children's book illustrators after the King abdicated in 1965. Around forty children's books were written and illustrated by him, and he also illustrated nearly twenty by other authors.
