Jacob M.Appel is a New York City-based physician, attorney, and bioethicist. He is the author of the novel The Man Who Wouldn't Stand Up, as well as the short story collection Scouting for the Reaper and over 200 other pieces. He also contributes to a number of prestigious newspapers, including the New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Boston Globe, Chicago Tribune, and Detroit Free Press, on the intersection of law and medicine.
