James Phelan is the Editor of Narrative and a Humanities Distinguished Professor of English at The Ohio State University. Story as Rhetoric: Technique, Audiences, Ethics, and Ideology, as well as Beyond the Tenure Track: Fifteen Months in the Life of an English Professor and Reading Persons, Reading Plots: Character, Progression, and the Interpretation of Narrative, are among his publications. A Companion to Narrative Theory is his coeditor.
