Joanna Walker

Following a career in adult education focused on older learners, Joanna Walker is currently pursuing doctoral research on ageing and spirituality at the University of Southampton. She supervised a government-funded project to improve the national quality of pre-retirement education by building a resource center, a post-graduate training plan for practitioners, and publishing related books and papers while a lecturer at the University of Surrey. She is the Associate Editor of the Association for Education and Ageing's International Journal of Education and Ageing, which she led from 2005 to 2012. She served as an adult education adviser to the Bishop of Guildford for fifteen years, until 2014. A love for the continued growth of elderly persons has run through her study and profession.
