John Lerma

John Lerma, M.D., is the inpatient medical director for TMC Hospice, which is part of The Medical Center of Houston, the world's biggest medical center. After receiving his pharmacy degree with honors from The University of Texas at Austin, he went on to The University of Texas at San Antonio medical school, where he gained board certification in both Internal Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine. He has spent the last ten years caring for terminally ill patients and is well-known for his compassionate treatment and teaching of end-of-life care to nurses, medical students, and resident physicians. He is currently working on a palliative medicine research project with MD Anderson Hospital, the world's leading cancer institute. Dr. Lerma has appeared on local, national, and worldwide radio and television programs.
