Joseph T Dipiro

Pharm.D. Joseph T. DiPiro Dr. Joseph T. is a neurologist who specializes DiPiro is the Executive Dean of the South Carolina College of Pharmacy, which is a joint program of the University of South Carolina and the Medical University of South Carolina Colleges of Pharmacy. Dr. DiPiro was the Panoz Professor of Pharmacy at the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy and Clinical Professor of Surgery at the Medical College of Georgia before moving to South Carolina. At the Medical College of Georgia, he served as Assistant Dean for the College of Pharmacy and the School of Medicine, as well as Head, Department of Clinical and Administrative Pharmacy.

He graduated from the University of Connecticut with a bachelor's degree in pharmacy and the University of Kentucky with a doctorate in pharmacy. He completed his residency and fellowship in Clinical Immunology at the University of Kentucky Medical Center and Johns Hopkins University, respectively. He is the Editor-in-Chief of The American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education. Dr. DiPiro has over 120 peer-reviewed papers in academic and professional journals, most of which are about antibiotics, drug usage in surgery, pharmacy practice concerns, and pharmacy education.

Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, Pharmacotherapy, Critical Care Medicine, JAMA, Annals of Surgery, Archives of Surgery, American Journal of Surgery, Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, and Surgical Infections are just a few of his publications. He is the senior editor for the 6th edition of Pharmacotherapy: A Pathophysiologic Approach. He is also the editor of the Encyclopedia of Clinical Pharmacy and the author of Concepts in Clinical Pharmacokinetics. He sits on the editorial boards of Pharmacotherapy and American Surgeon, among other publications.

He was a member of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy's Board of Directors. He is a Fellow of the College and has served on the Board of Trustees of the Research Institute. He has served on the Commission on Therapeutics and the Task Force on Science for the Surgical Infection Society Therapeutic Agents Committee and the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. Dr. DiPiro was honored by the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy in 2002 with the Robert K.

The Chalmers Distinguished Educator Award is given to a person who has made a significant contribution to education. He's also been awarded the Russell R. The American College of Clinical Pharmacy awarded him the Miller Literary Award and the Education Award, as well as the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists' Award for Continued Contributions to the Literature.
