The Song Poet: A Memoir of My Father was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award, the Chautauqua Prize, and the PEN USA Literary Award. Kao Kalia Yang is the author of The Song Poet: A Memoir of My Father, which won the Minnesota Book Award in 2017 and was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award, the Chautauqua Prize, and the PEN USA Literary Award. The Minnesota Book Award was also given to her previous work, The Latehomecomer: A Hmong Family Memoir. Yang lives in Minneapolis and is a regular contributor to NPR's On Belief.
