Katherine Paterson is the author of several children's books, including Lyddie, The Mandarin Ducks' Tale, and Jip, His Story. Her works have garnered a lot of praise and have been published all over the world. Two Newbery Medals and two National Book Awards are among her many literary distinctions. She was awarded the Hans Christian Andersen Medal in 1998 and the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award in 2006. She and her husband, John, reside in Barre, Vermont. They have a total of seven grandchildren and four children.
