Kermit Lynch grew up in the state of California. He founded a retail wine shop in 1972 and eventually began importing and distributing wines around the country. Travels on the Wine Road, which received the Veuve Clicquot Wine Book of the Year Award in 1988, was his first book. In 2004, he released his second book, Inspiring Hunger. Lynch splits his time between Berkeley and Provence, where he lives with his wife Gail Skoff, a photographer, and their two daughters.
