Laura Solomon was born in 1976 in the Deep South and grew up there. She went to the University of Georgia in Athens to study Political Science and Literature, and then to the University of Massachusetts-Amherst to study Creative Writing. Slope Editions published her debut novel, BIVOUAC, in 2002. Additional works include a chapbook, Letters by which Sisters Shall Know Brothers (Katalanche Press, 2005), and Jaques Poullaouec's Haiku des Pierres / Haiku of Stones (Apogee Press, 2006), a translation from the French with Sika Fakambi. Blue and Red Things, her second collection of poetry, was recently published by Ugly Duckling Presse. She currently works as a tutor and researcher for an adult literacy intervention program in Philadelphia.
