Laurie Garrett has worked at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York as a Senior Fellow for Global Health since 2004. Garrett is the author of The Coming Plague: Newly Developing Diseases in an Out-of-Balance Society (1994) and Betrayal of Trust: The Breakdown of Global Public Health (2000), both of which were New York Times bestsellers. Nightline, PBS NewsHour, The Charlie Rose Show, and The Oprah Winfrey Show are just a few of the national television shows she's featured on. She has won multiple prizes, including the Pulitzer Prize and the Peabody and Polk awards.
