For a thesis titled Jean Dubuffet's Art Theory, Leonhard Emmerling obtained his PhD from the University of Heidelberg. He is the Director of South Asia Programmes at the Goethe-Institute in New Delhi, and he previously worked as a curator at a number of German art organizations. TASCHEN's Jean-Michel Basquiat and Jackson Pollock are among his works.
