Leslie F Halleck

Leslie F.Halleck, a Certified Professional Horticulturist (ASHS), has dedicated her 27-year career bridging the gap between horticulture science and the demands of home gardeners. Halleck graduated from The University of North Texas with a BS in Biology/Botany and Michigan State University with an MA in Horticulture. Halleck has worked in botanical field research, public gardens, landscape design and management, garden writing, garden center retail, and horticulture and green industry consultancy, among other fields. Halleck devoted herself full-time to her green sector consulting and marketing consultancy, Halleck Horticulture, LLC, at the end of 2012. Director of Horticultural Research at The Dallas Arboretum and General Manager of North Haven Gardens (IGC) in Dallas, TX are among Halleck's former jobs.

Halleck is now a fixture on the professional speaking and industry publication circuit, but she still uses her Plantgeek Chic blog, public workshops, plant swaps, and consumer books to provide home gardeners with practical gardening advice and hands-on learning. Halleck has written hundreds of articles for local, regional, and national magazines and taught many gardening classes for the home houseplant keeper, indoor grower, flower gardener, edible hobbyist, and backyard farmer over the course of her career. Gardening Under Lights: The Comprehensive Handbook for Indoor Growers (2018) and Plant Parenting: Simple Ways to Create More Houseplants, Vegetables, and Flowers (2019) are two books written by Halleck. She is completely enamored with all small and adorable plants.
