Lex Williford is a professor at the University of Texas at El Paso's multilingual writing program. He previously taught at Southern Illinois University and the University of Alabama's writing departments. Macauley's Thumb, a collection of stories, was a co-winner of the Iowa School of Letters Prize for Short Fiction in 1993. He and his wife live in El Paso, Texas.
