Barbo has written over 35 books for children, including the original New York Times #1 bestselling Official Pokémon Guide in 1999. She has also worked as an art teacher, an editor, and a painter. She can be spotted playing soccer or riding to the beach when she is not working on stories. Maria currently resides in New York City.
