The Beauty Queen of Leenane, Martin McDonagh's first play, was nominated for six Tony Awards and won four of them, as well as the Laurence Olivier Award. His play The Pillowman, which garnered the 2004 Olivier Award, had its world premiere at the National Theatre in London in 2003. McDonagh earned an Academy Award for his short film Six Shooter in 2006. In Bruges won the BAFTA for best original screenplay in 2009. In Bruges, A Behanding in Spokane, and Seven Psychopaths are among his most recent works.
