Maura Spiegel is a native New Yorker who has spent the past two decades teaching literature and film at Columbia University. She is the co-director of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons' Division of Narrative Medicine, where she teaches cinema to first-year medical students. She's written about a variety of topics, including the history of emotions, Charles Dickens, Victorian dress and film, and movie diamonds.
