Melissa Joulwan is the best-selling author of the Well Fed cookbook series and the award-winning blog MelJoulwan.com, where she chronicles her successes and mistakes in the gym, the kitchen, and in life. Well Fed Weeknights: Full Paleo Meals in 45 Minutes Or Less is her newest cookbook. Melissa discovered the paleo diet in 2009 after a lifetime of yo-yo dieting and seeing food as the enemy. She has been happily following it ever since. In the same year, she had a thyroidectomy. She became particularly interested in how eating influences hormones, body composition, temperament, and motivation following the operation and rehabilitation.

Melissa's workouts these days are just as likely to entail yoga and meditation as they are to include lifting heavy objects and sprinting to beat the stopwatch.
